Widening the Automotive Prospects

Human beings are known for many different things, but most importantly, they are known for getting better on a consistent basis. This tendency to improve, no matter the weather, has empowered us to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology emerging as quite a major member of the stated group. The reason why we hold technology in such a high regard is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which realized all the possibilities for us that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look beyond the surface for a second, it will become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired from the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component, in fact, did a lot to give the creation a spectrum-wide presence and start what was a full-blown tech revolution. Of course, this revolution then went on to scale up the human experience from every conceivable direction, but even after achieving a feat so notable, technology will somehow continue to bring out the right goods. The same has grown more and more evident over the recent past, and assuming a new automotive development pans out just like we envision, it will only propel that trend to far greater heights moving forward.

Lectric, a company best known for developing low-cost electric bikes, has officially launched its first ever cargo bike called Lectric XPedition. Priced between $1,399 and $1,699, the XPedition is being marketed around as   “the ultimate transportation solution.” According to certain reports, the bike features 180mm rear and front hydraulic disc brakes, a rear-hub motor, and a maximum payload capacity of 450lbs. Apart from that, it delivers at your disposal two separate battery options. The first one, a single-battery version, comes with 48 volts and 14 Ah for 672Wh worth of capacity, allowing the model to clock a range of around 75 miles. The stated range will also depend on the assist levels used by a rider. Anyway, moving on to the other battery option, Lectric’s dual-battery models are expected to carry a capacity of 1,344Wh, a figure that should get it achieve almost 150 miles in range. Beyond the differences, the models do have various similarities too. For instance, both will work with a rear-hub motor sporting 750 watts of nominal power, 1,310W of peak power, and 85 Nm of torque. The cargo bike will also harness a new system named Pedal Assist Wattage Regulation to provide upgraded pedal-assist functionality. But how does the new system works? It operates “by supporting riders up to a designated power level for each PAS setting, instead of limiting the assistance by speed.” Talk about the speed aspect, the XPedition is able to realize a top speed of 20 mph, but when on pedal assist, that limit can go as high as 28 mph.

Now, while the technical features are surely worth all the attention, the most unique element in XPedition’s anatomy has to be its price. You see, other cargo e-bikes currently on the market have an average price of $3,000. Hence, for a company to offer somewhat similar value at almost half the price, it instantly makes the technology accessible to a much wider population. However, in case the dramatically reduced price makes you question the bike’s quality, then it must be noted that the XPedition will be available alongside a full one year warranty and a dedicated post-purchase customer service.
