Human beings have proven themselves to be good at a variety of things, and yet there remains shockingly little that we do better than improving at a consistent pace. We say what we did because this very excellence has fetched the world some huge milestones, with technology emerging as quite a major member of the group. The reason why we hold technology in such a high regard is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which guided us towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look beyond the surface for one hot second, it will become abundantly clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired from the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component, in fact, did a lot to give their creation a spectrum-wide presence, and as a result, initiated a full-blown tech revolution. Of course, the next thing this revolution did was to scale up the human experience through some outright unique avenues, but even after achieving a feat so notable, technology will somehow continue to bring forth the right goods. The same has turned more and more evident in recent times, and assuming one new discovery ends up with the desired impact, it will only put that trend on a higher pedestal moving forward.
Amazon has officially announced a partnership with Hyundai to combine both the companies’ unique abilities and give customers a broad set of innovative experiences. According to certain reports, the partnership packs together three main offerings i.e. Amazon launching online sales of Hyundai vehicles in the U.S. in 2024, Hyundai naming AWS as its preferred cloud provider to help facilitate digital transformation, and the Alexa Built-in experience coming to Hyundai’s next-generation vehicles. Talk about these offerings on a slightly deeper level; let’s begin with the partnership bringing a whole new platform for vehicle sales. You see, from 2024, auto dealers will be able to sell vehicles on Amazon’s US store, and thanks to this partnership, Hyundai will be the first brand available for customers to purchase. To give you a lowdown on how the process will work, customers can head to Amazon to search for vehicles available in the area based on a range of preferences, including model, trim, color, and features. Once they have made the pick, they can move on to deciding their preferred mode of payment, as well as exploring financing options. The purchased vehicle will be available for pick-up at the local dealership or you can even have it home delivered. Next up, we must get into Amazon Web Services becoming the cloud provider for Hyundai. Here, Hyundai’s idea is to leverage the cloud platform’s compute, storage, database, and analytics, generative AI, and Internet of Things (IoT), and become more of a data-driven organization. The company, in practice, will focus on business cases like manufacturing and supply chain to help optimize production and minimize costs. The other priority will be security and disaster recovery for resiliency, and connected vehicle development to bring new features to drivers around the globe.
“Hyundai is a very innovative company that shares Amazon’s passion for trying to make customers’ lives better and easier every day,” said Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon. “Our broad, strategic partnership should do just that, from changing the ease with which customers can buy vehicles online, to making it simple to use Alexa in Hyundai vehicles for entertainment, shopping, smart home adjustments, and calendar checks, to enabling Hyundai to transform their customer experiences and business operations by moving to AWS. We look forward to inventing together for many years.”
Rounding up the highlights are these in-vehicle solutions that, from 2025 onwards, will be available across Hyundai next-generation vehicles. This includes an uninterrupted access to Alexa where customers can ask the AI assistant to play music, podcasts, or audiobooks, set reminders, update to-do lists, and check calendars. Beyond that, customers can control their smart home from the road, such as asking to warm up the house on their way home, double-checking doors are locked, and managing smart lighting and Alexa routines. In case that’s not enough, you can also ask Alexa for up-to-date traffic updates or weather reports, and voice-control the in-vehicle media player or navigation system.
“Partnering with one of the world’s most customer-centric organizations unlocks incredible opportunities as we continue to expand our portfolio, grow our sales network, transition to electrification and realize the future of smart mobility,” said Jaehoon (Jay) Chang, CEO and president of Hyundai Motor Company. “Amazon is the ideal partner to help realize our vision of progress for humanity, including improving how people and goods move more efficiently and sustainably. Hyundai is the first automotive company available for full end-to-end transactions in Amazon’s U.S. store and this is another example of how we continue to push for ways to elevate the customer journey together with our outstanding retail partners.”
